Meta has added real-time translation to smart glasses developed in collaboration with Ray-Ban. This feature, which was previously only tested by a limited number of users, became more widely available as of 24 April 2025.
Meta’s smart glasses get live translation
The live translation feature was introduced at Meta’s Connect event in 2024 and became available in some countries in December. The feature allows users to receive real-time voice translation between English, French, Italian and Spanish.
During the conversation, the translation is transmitted directly through the glasses, while the answers can be displayed on the connected smartphone screen. However, in order to benefit from the translation feature, the relevant language packs must be downloaded to the device in advance.
The system enables users to communicate directly and instantly with individuals in different languages. While the glasses instantly recognise and translate conversations during translation, users’ responses and interaction with the content are managed from the phone screen paired with the glasses.
Meta also gave information about the functions that will be offered in the future with this new feature. With the Live AI feature, which is planned to be activated in the near future, everything that users see will be transferred to the artificial intelligence system thanks to the built-in camera of the glasses.
In addition, the messaging and calling capabilities of Ray-Ban Meta glasses are also expanding. Direct messages, photos, voice and video calls can be made through the Instagram application via the glasses.
The price of the glasses starts from 299 dollars. So what do you think about this device? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
