The police patrolling the roads surrounding the legendary Suzuka Circuit in Japan will now be chasing criminals with a new vehicle worthy of this region. Unlike the Toyota sedans usually used by the Mie Prefectural police, this vehicle has 581 horsepower.

The police organisation took delivery of the Honda NSX at a ceremony at the Suzuka circuit on Monday. The car carries Japan’s traditional black and white colours, with “Police” lettering on both doors and red lights mounted on the roof. To be honest, it looks great.

According to the Japanese publication Chunichi, this NSX is a gift to the police from 43-year-old property tycoon Toshiya Kobayashi. Kobayashi, who is described as a racing enthusiast, also took part in the handover ceremony of the vehicle he donated. During the 100 km/h demonstration drive, he did not miss the opportunity to joke: “Maybe they are a bit shy about speed”.

The value of the vehicle was announced as 25 million yen (6.7 million ₺), including all the modifications made to make it ready for patrol. In fact, the Japanese police have a good relationship with sporty cars. We have seen news that Nissan GT-Rs, Skylines, 350Zs and RX-7s have the same black and white body and patrol the roads.
