Two legendary beings from completely different worlds. One is Anubis, the ancient Egyptian god of death and the afterlife. The other is Gandalf, the wise wizard from The Lord of the Rings, guardian of Middle-earth. One commands the realm of souls, the other commands fire, light, and divine wisdom.

But when these two powerful forces collide—who wins?

Combatants Overview

Anubis

  • Origin: Ancient Egyptian Mythology
  • Role: God of Death, Embalming, and Judgment
  • Powers:
    • Control over souls and the dead
    • Command of the Duat (underworld)
    • Immortality
    • Divine strength and speed
    • Soul weighing and spiritual judgment
  • Weaknesses: Bound by ancient laws and cosmic balance

Gandalf the White

  • Origin: The Lord of the Rings
  • Role: Istari (angelic Maia), guide and warrior
  • Powers:
    • Light magic and fire
    • Staff and sword mastery
    • Command over nature and animals
    • Spiritual resilience
    • Resurrection (from Gandalf the Grey to the White)
  • Weaknesses: Limited interference (cannot dominate mortal will), still in physical form

Battle Scenario: Sacred Temple in a Desert Storm

The winds of fate bring them together in a ruined desert temple. The sky is dark, filled with swirling sand. Anubis rises from the shadows, his jackal head glowing with otherworldly power. Gandalf stands tall, robes billowing, staff in hand.

Gandalf: “This realm is not yours to claim, dark god.”

Anubis: “You guide the living. I judge the dead. You cannot stop what is already destined.”

Round 1: Divine Strength vs Angelic Will

Anubis vs Gandalf

Anubis charges forward, wielding a spectral blade of blackened energy. Gandalf parries with Glamdring, sparks of divine and underworld power lighting the sky.

Gandalf uses blinding light, pushing Anubis back—but the god of death merely grins and summons ghostly spirits, the souls of ancient warriors, to surround Gandalf.

But Gandalf chants in Valinorean, invoking Eru Ilúvatar’s light. The spirits vanish in a burst of holy fire.

Round 2: Soul vs Flame

Anubis tries to reach into Gandalf’s soul, weighing it in the balance. But he finds something terrifying: Gandalf is no ordinary being—he is a Maia, a lesser god himself.

Gandalf counters with white fire, setting the temple ablaze with light. Anubis stumbles, wounded—not by power, but by truth. Gandalf’s light comes not from domination, but wisdom and sacrifice.

Final Clash

Anubis unleashes the power of the Duat, causing the ground to crack and spirits to rise from beneath. Gandalf raises his staff high, summoning a blinding pillar of light that cuts through dimensions.

The underworld shrinks away. Anubis, weakened, drops to one knee—not destroyed, but humbled.

Gandalf: “Even death must respect the light of life.”

**Winner: Gandalf the White

Though Anubis is a god, Gandalf’s spiritual power, divine wisdom, and mastery over both light and death make him the victor. Gandalf doesn’t just fight—he redeems, and that makes his power greater than fear or fate.
