Roy Kelton Orbison is an American singer, songwriter and musicians born on 23 April 1936 and died in 1988 from a heart attack when he was only 52 years old. He is known for s strong, deep and smooth voice and the emotions he adds to his songs. “Oh, Pretty Woman!” would be enough to remind him to everyone. Yes, it is the famous soundtrack of the amazing “Pretty Woman” movie in 1990. As you can guess from the date of death of Roy Orbison, the song dates further back than the movie. The song was recomposed by Prince in 1990 for the movie.
Roy Orbison is the only person who toured with Elvis Presley, The Beatles and Eagles. It is even said that Elvis Presley said, “Roy is the greatest artist on earth!”
Orbison, born and raised in Texas, was uncomfortable about his look when he was young because of his thick glasses, yellow-like eye color and ears. For this reason, he started to dye his golden hair to black. Roy Orbison attracted attention with his voice and he never stopped chasing music since his father gave him a guitar as his 16th birthday gift. In his high-school years, he released his first album “Sun Records” with his Teen Kings band but these young people choose to go on their own paths.
Orbison who wrote most of his songs for his first wife Claudette Frady was in his golden age when he lost his wife in a car crash in 1966. After losing his wife following the golden period, the artists were forced to have a silent period. Roy Orbison tried to make new albums and songs in the 70s and 80s and he re-gained attention and got his former throne with “In Dreams: Greatest Hits” albums in 1987. His sudden death in 1988 after a heart attack shook the entire world and attracted attention from the press.
Roy Orbison is a legendary artist who made songs that will never go old with his beautiful voice. He has beautiful songs but my two favorites are “Unchained Melody” and “Only the Lonely”.
David Jon Gilmour was born on 06 March 1946 in Cambridge. Gilmour was in the scene of history as he was the guitarist and soloist of the legendary psychedelic rock music band Pink Floyd and he met with classic guitar when he was just 13. He attracted attention with an amazing ear for music, rhythm skills and command on guitar.
Before becoming famous with Pink Floyd, he went not Paris the capital of France, formed a band and did a Europe tour with this band. In the meantime, he was a male model in Paris as well as he worked on music. The was in Pink Floyd which was the turning point of his life in 1967. When David Gilmour joined the group, Syd Barrett just left the group. This way, the legendary members of the band worked together for five months. David Gilmour was able to make important contributions of the Pink Floyd that had global fame in 1970 and proved to make music beyond their time in terms of philosophical lyrics. The group that had various successful albums and concerts experienced problems after a while. Especially the arguments between Gilmour and Roger Waters, another legend of Pink Floyd in the 1980s was the messenger of the approaching disbanding…
The album that reflects David Gilmour’s own style is the album “The Division Bell”, which was released after Roger Waters parted ways with Pink Floyd. David Gilmour’s style and work were seen in this album. In addition to “The Division Bell”, David Gilmour also has solo albums called “About Face” and “On an Island”. In 1973, he was the producer of a music band called Unicorn and he had experience in this field. Many musical authorities accept that “On the Island” album by David Gilmour is his peak in musical creativity. David Gilmour and Roger Waters who left Pink Floyd years ago were met on July 2005 in Hype Park, London for Live 8 concert. The purpose of the concert was to gather famous groups on the same stage. This way, two legends were back together again.
David Gilmour has aviation hobbies. He loves model planes and flying. He also attends aviation shows. Gilmour has a license to fly a double-engine plane, helicopter and jet. Also, Gilmour is collecting instruments. Gilmour has an expensive guitar collection and he has “Fender Stratocaster” 001 guitar. David Gilmour married to Ginger Gilmour in 1986 but divorced in 1990. His second marriage was to Polly Samson on 29 July 1994. Gilmour has a total of seven children. Three of his children are from his ex-wife and four are from his current wife.
