Here is a nice find by the team from the ELO Secret Messages blog. It’s a Jeff Lynne class photo from early 1961 (he was 14 years old). He was pupil at the Alderlea Boys School in Shard End, Birmingham (UK). Phil Hatton (the former Jeff Lynne’s personal assistant) helped to identify him on the picture.

In May 1966 joined Jeff Lynne at age 19 in “The Night Riders” (Greg Masters bass / vocal, Dave Pritchard rhythm / vocals, Roger Spencer drums / vocals, Johnny Mann guitar), he replaced the guitarist Johnny Man (formerly “The Vikings” ), which only managed to play with in 2 months.
In November 1966 The Night Riders were in the studio to record the single “It’s Only The Dog” with the side 2 “Your Friend” with Jeff Lynne on lead guitar, which already was released the same month.
