The idea that we are not alone in the universe is both unsettling and fascinating. Throughout history, mankind has looked to the skies in search of beings that could be friend or foe. But what if evidence of extraterrestrials already exists on Earth? From Nevada’s rocks decorated with flying saucers to Peru’s mysterious drawings spanning hundreds of kilometres, there are many places thought to be linked to extraterrestrials. In addition, there are fun stops dedicated to alien culture: For example, the ‘spaceship landing pad’ in Argentina or the famous Area 51 motorway in America. Here are the places that are thought to be connected to aliens…

Travis Walton’s phone booth (USA)

We begin our list of places thought to be connected to aliens. On 5 November 1975, Travis Walton called for help from this phone booth after an allegedly incredible incident in the jungle. He said he had been abducted by aliens and held captive for days. He told his story in the 1978 book Fire in the Sky, which was later adapted into a film. Today, a telephone booth stands where this event took place. There is a mural and a green statue of an alien. For UFO enthusiasts, this spot has become the centre of incredible stories and a mystical atmosphere.

Area 21 (Peru)

While Area 51 in Nevada is surrounded by barbed wire, Area 21 in Peru is open to all intrepid travellers! ‘Free Abduction’ signs, a giant UFO model and various alien figures greet you here. Located on a winding road on the outskirts of Cusco, this open-air exhibition is a great place to take photos.

This fun attraction is not just a tourist spot. It is an art project that combines Peru’s rich history and science fiction aesthetics. The works by artist Tupaq Kamariy Candia bridge the gap between alien culture and Peruvian mythology.

3. Cosmo Island (Japan)

The city of Hakui in Japan is a paradise for UFO enthusiasts! Ancient texts from the area speak of objects similar to flying saucers called sōhachibon. In the 1980s, these legends of the city were publicised nationally to boost tourism. In 1996, the space-themed museum opened under the leadership of TV producer Josen Takano, attracting visitors from around the world. There are many attractions inside, including a Vostok space capsule, a NASA Mars rover and a UFO research room. The planetarium allows you to look at the sky from a completely different perspective.

4. Rendlesham forest UFO landing site (England)

This incident, known as ‘Britain’s Roswell’, is based on an alleged UFO encounter near the US Air Force base in Suffolk in 1980. At the time, it was claimed that some military personnel had seen an alien craft.

Today, Rendlesham Forest is a popular spot for nature walks. A walk to the UFO landing site takes about 8 kilometres round trip. A model of a UFO has been placed at the landing site to commemorate the event. This walk offers a great opportunity for those who want to spend a day in nature.

5. Aurora’s mysterious alien cemetery (USA)

In the early 1890s, the town of Aurora in Texas was a favourite among UFO enthusiasts. According to rumours, a UFO crash occurred here and the pilot of the spacecraft was buried in a local cemetery. A figure representing the alien’s ship was carved on the gravestone. However, neither the gravestone nor any other concrete evidence has survived. Nevertheless, history plaques in the area continue to arouse curiosity, mentioning Martians as well as other real dead.

6. Extraterrestrial motorway (USA)

6. Extraterrestrial motorway (USA)

This long and deserted motorway in Nevada passes close to the mysterious military base of Area 51. The area is very popular among those who believe that it is connected to aliens. However, it’s not only the aliens that are worth seeing, but also the unique geological formations and wildlife along this road. Even if you don’t find aliens, there is much to discover on this desert road.

7. Ovnipuerto Cachi (Argentina)

In 2008, a man named Werner Jaisli travelled to the Argentine town of Cachi to build a landing site for aliens. Claiming that he could communicate telepathically with extraterrestrials, Jaisli built a gigantic flare with large rocks. It is not known whether this 2,000-metre-high structure has impressed the aliens, but it certainly offers a fascinating view for humans.

8. Greater Green River intergalactic spaceport (USA)

This extraordinary site in Wyoming was created in 1994. The beginning of the story dates back to NASA’s discovery of fragments of a comet that could hit Jupiter. Although there was no evidence of life on Jupiter, the leaders of the city of Green River prepared this landing strip in case of a possible ‘Jupiter refugee’ crisis. Today, this small area of land is better known as an interesting tourist spot.

9. Nazca lines (Peru)

The Nazca lines in Peru are huge geoglyphs from ancient times. These drawings, which can only be seen from the air, contain many depictions such as spiders, monkeys and geometric shapes. The size and details of the drawings make us question what kind of technology ancient civilisations used to make them. According to some, these drawings point to a connection with aliens, but the scientific world has not been able to find any conclusive evidence on this subject.

10. Mount Irish petroglyph site (USA)

We have come to the end of our article on places thought to be connected to aliens. These ancient rock drawings at Mount Irish in Nevada provide evidence of past contact between humans and aliens, according to some. The ‘Pahranagat Man’ and symbols resembling a flying saucer date from the 1st century to the 1500s. Of course, whether they are really connected to extraterrestrial beings is completely open to interpretation.
