Xiaomi‘s first electric sedan model SU7 received the highest score of five stars in C-NCAP safety and crash tests conducted in China. Moreover, SU7 attracted attention by showing the highest performance among the vehicles evaluated according to 2024 safety standards. This success points to how ambitious Xiaomi, which has stepped into the automotive world as a new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, is in terms of safety.
Xiaomi SU7 was subjected to the C-NCAP safety test organised by the China Automotive Technology and Research Centre (CATARC). In these tests, vehicles are evaluated in three main categories: passenger protection, vulnerable road users (pedestrians and cyclists) protection and active safety systems.
The model that entered the tests was the SU7 Max, the most powerful version of the Xiaomi SU7, which costs about $ 41 thousand. This model; It is equipped with an all-wheel drive system, the AT128 LiDAR sensor developed by Hesai and the advanced Xiaomi Pilot Max driver assistance system.
The Xiaomi SU7 Max achieved a remarkable overall performance score of 93.5 per cent in the C-NCAP tests. This score is 8.7 per cent higher than the average score of other vehicles tested according to 2024 standards. It stood out especially in the Active Safety category with a success rate of 95.25 per cent. Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system and lighting performance received almost full points.
The vehicle performed well in the occupant protection tests with a score of 94.31 per cent, while it also scored 90.42 per cent in the category of protecting vulnerable road users. This score is 13.14 per cent higher than the average of other vehicles. It showed superior success especially in pedestrian head and leg protection tests.
