Sophie Turner will play Lara Croft in Prime Video’s “Tomb Raider” series from Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
Sophie Turner’s new role will be the iconic video game character Lara Croft. The Game of Thrones star is set to take the lead role of Tomb Raider to the screen.
According to Variety’s reliable sources, Sophie Turner will play the lead role in Amazon’s Tomb Raider series, which is planned to start shooting soon. Although the agreement between Prime Video and Turner has not yet been signed, it is noted that the process has been moved to the final stage and no complications are expected.
Sophie Turner, who is remembered for her role as Eddard Stark’s eldest daughter Sansa Stark in the Game of Thrones series, was one of the few actresses whose name was mentioned for the role of Lara Croft. Turner’s rivals included Lucy Boynton (Murder on the Orient Express), Emma Corrin (Deadpool & Wolverine) and Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner 2049).

Sophie Turner Joins Tomb Raider Series as New Lara Croft
The Tomb Raider series, which received the green light from Prime Video in the middle of this year, will be the first of many productions that Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge will develop for the platform.
Before Sophie Turner, the role of Lara Croft was played by Angelina Jolie for two films and Alicia Vikander for one film.
Although Turner is best known for her role as Sansa Stark in the HBO series Game of Thrones, the actress is also known for her role as Jean Grey in the X-Men series. The 28-year-old actress recently starred in the ITV mini-series Joan and the Max production The Staircase.
The Tomb Raider series is being developed by Crystal Dynamics and Amazon MGM Studios in partnership with Legendary Television. Executive producers include Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins of Wells Street Productions, Dmitri M. Johnson and Michael Scheel of dj2 Entertainment. Amanda Greenblatt and Ryan Andolina will serve as consulting producers on behalf of Star Party.
The Tomb Raider series, which entered the gaming world in 1996, is about the adventures of Lara Croft, a brave archaeologist travelling the world in search of ancient ruins and mysterious secrets.
