Casting for the lead roles in the Harry Potter series has begun. The new HBO adaptation is set to bring J.K. Rowling’s famous series to the screen.
The work for the Harry Potter series is slowly gaining momentum. Casting for the lead roles in the production, which will be broadcast on the HBO channel serving under the umbrella of Warner Bros. Discovery, has begun.
Written by author J.K. Rowling and consisting of 7 books in total, the Harry Potter series was adapted to the big screen in 8 movies between 2001 and 2011. The series grossed a total of 7.7 billion dollars at the box office and Wizarding World became one of the world’s most popular cultural brands.
The 8th Harry Potter movie was followed by the Cursed Child theater play and the Fantastic Beasts movies; however, the expectations of the fans were not fully met.
Following the merger of Warner Bros. with Discovery Inc., some of the changes in the management approach also shaped the direction of investments in big brands such as Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings.
As a result, work began in 2023 for a faithful adaptation of the story in the books, which will be broadcast on HBO and will last a total of 7 seasons.
