In addition to hit Netflix works such as Arcane, set in the League of Legends universe, and Edgerunners, the Cyberpunk 77 narrative that has become one of the biggest gaming events of recent years, as well as Ark: The Animated Series, which started airing on Adult Swim last month… The number of animated series based on video games is increasing day by day.
Comedy Central, which decided to join this trend with a nostalgic twist, will bring us a new adventure from the world of Sega’s Golden Axe, one of the legends of beat ’em up games, the first of which was released in 1989. Golden Axe, a fantasy game set in the Middle Ages, featured three heroes on a quest to recover the golden sword that gave the series its name.

Ax Battler, Tyrus Flare and Gilius Thunderhead, the main heroes of the game, will be with us again in the animated series adaptation to be broadcast on Comedy Central. The trio will be accompanied on their journey by a new character named Hampton Squib. Described as a “hapless dreamer”, he is a character known from the TV series Community and last seen in Avatar: The Last Airbender and is voiced by Danny Pudi.
Matthew Rhys, Lisa Gilroy, Carl Tart and Liam McIntyre are among the other names who will step behind the microphone for the Golden Axe series. Here is the first synopsis shared by Comedy Central:
“Axe Battler, Tyris Flare and Gilius Thunderhead are once again thrown into battle to save Yuria from the Death Adder, the evil giant who never seems to die. Luckily, this time they have the inexperienced and unprepared Hampton Squib on their side!”
The first season of Golden Axe will consist of 10 episodes. The broadcast date is not yet known.
