Tata has launched an all-electric version of its smallest and most accessible SUV, the Punch. Although the new Tata Punch EV looks like a facelift of the Punch with a gasoline engine, it is possible to say that it hides more than that under the shell.
The new Tata Punch EV has a face that adopts the brand’s latest design language. At first glance, the “X” form draws attention to the LED light signature at the end of the muscular front hood. Immediately below, there is a charging port on which the brand logo is positioned. The Punch EV, where the main lighting is positioned on the bumper edges, also has details that reinforce the SUV character, such as gray protection plates.
From the side and rear, the Punch EV looks almost identical to the Punch with an internal combustion engine. The 16-inch wheels with a new design and the lack of exhaust outlets are the only differences in this area. On the inside, the digital panel consisting of 10.25-inch screens draws attention, but it should be noted that these screens are 7 inches in the lower equipment levels.
The technical specifications of the electric compact are not yet known. However, we do know the features supported by the new acti.ev platform on which it is based. In this context, it is possible to mention features such as 300-600 km driving range, 150 kW fast charging, V2L (vehicle-to-load) feature, 5G connection, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis platform with OTA update support and Mobileye-sourced level 2+ semi-autonomous driving.
The price of the model, which is available for pre-order in India, has not yet been announced, but according to local sources, it is said to be in the range of 12 to 15 thousand dollars.
