Gen V, the spin-off series of Amazon Prime Video’s hit superhero series The Boys, set in the same universe, has been renewed for a second season by Amazon. The first season of the series will soon have its season finale.
Gen V, Amazon Prime Video’s spin-off series in the same universe as the widely beloved and superhero-subverting series The Boys, has been picked up for a second season by Amazon. Amazon’s official second season approval comes ahead of the Season 1 finale, which airs on November 3. The series began airing its eight-episode first season in September.
“Expanding The Boys universe with a series as bold as Gen V has been an incredible journey for us and our amazing partners at Sony,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios. But as much as Amazon’s investment in The Boys adaptation, it always seemed certain that spinoff series Gen V would return for a second season after its debut last month, and now it’s official.
Vernon Sanders also described producing Gen V as “an incredible journey” and pointed to showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters’ desire to push boundaries as the source of the series’ success. “Their no-holds-barred approach is exactly what viewers love, and it’s helped Gen V become Prime Video’s #1 series in more than 130 countries,” Sanders said. While no air date has yet been set for the second season of Gen V, the finale of the first season is scheduled to air on November 3.
