First look images have been shared for This Town. The cast includes Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey), Nicholas Pinnock (For Life) and David Dawson (My Policeman) and will be directed by Steven Knight.
British artist Steven Knight, who has recently made waves with Peaky Blinders, was previously nominated for an Oscar for Dirty Pretty Things and has worked on productions such as Great Expectations, Eastern Promises and Locke. Knight’s latest project is This Town.
Conceived as a 6-part mini-series, This Town is produced by the BBC, Mercury Studios, Kudos North, Stigma Films and Nick Angel. The series was shot in the West Midlands region of England and at Steven Knight’s Digbeth Loc Film and TV studios.
This Town Series Plot
This Town is set in the ska and two-tone music scene that emerged in Coventry and Birmingham in the late 70s and early 80s. The production follows the formation of a band in a violent environment and follows how creative genius can emerge from a period of madness.
The series stars Levi Brown (Loss and Return), Jordan Bolger (The Woman King), Ben Rose (Line of Duty) and Eve Austin (You).
Other cast members include Geraldine James (Back to Life), Peter McDonald (The Batman), Freya Parks (The School of Good and Evil), Shyvonne Ahmmad (Annika), John Heffernan (Dracula), Stefan Asante-Boateng (Coronation Street), Séainín Brennan (The Fall), George Somner (This Is Going to Hurt) and Brendan Gibson (Peaky Blinders).
The series is created, written and executive produced by Steven Knight. Paul Whittington serves as director, while Charlotte Surtees and Tim Whitby are executive producers. Executive producers include Karen Wilson, Martin Haines, Katie McAleese and Jo McClellan.
The release date of the series to be broadcast on BBC channel is not yet known.
