This week, Kylie Minogue caused a stir when she made a surprise appearance to the rehearsals of the upcoming I Should Be So Lucky musical. The show, which is named after Kylie’s 1987 single that propelled her into stardom, will debut at Manchester Opera House next month. It follows the story of a jilted bride who takes her family and friends on her honeymoon. The pop star spent two days observing the cast and even recorded her part as a “specially created character” that will appear throughout the musical. Lucie-Mae Sumner, who plays Ella, said it was a “dream come true” to meet the singer. “When she showed up, we couldn’t believe it,” she said.
Kylie’s hits will be accompanied by a selection of songs provided by the music production team of Mike Stock, Matt Aitken and Pete Waterman during the 1980s, who ruled the charts. Beginning in Manchester on the 2nd of November and running until the 25th, the show will then tour the UK.
