Hollywood Reporter critics stated that more than 600 original series were broadcast in 2022 alone and that it was difficult to even determine the 50 best series of last year.

After much deliberation, the team decided that only English-language TV series should be considered, and even if the first episode aired in the 20th century, they also took into consideration TV series released after December 31, 1999.
