You can find it by experimenting with things or studying your life patterns. Great TV series can challenge you to discover your answer to the “who I am question.” The structure of their episodes can help you interrogate your life for answers. Gypsy – 2017

Gypsy is a 2017 series with 10 episodes. The story follows the life of Jean Holloway, a therapist who entangles herself in relationships with her patients. This threatens her professional life and the people around her. After being lost in different twists and turns of life, Jean must find out who she is and return to herself. 

In one of the episodes, Nicholas tells Gypsy he believes he had multiple personalities. One is dark and the other has a good personality. Jean lies about her

husband, and her name, and lies to her mother. She struggles to find her place although she is constantly helping others go through their issues. 

It is Sidney who helps Jean through the journey of escaping from her self-deception. She finally starts to explore her true self.  The series reminds people about the importance of character even when alone. It reminds viewers that no one can entirely know a person. The journey to self-discovery can be rough but it is worth walking. 

A student in university might struggle with self-discovery. However, they can use the various school resources to know who they are. He doesn’t know who he is even though he is supposed to be king. His uncle Scar tricks him to believe he murdered his father. Exiled far away, Simba adopts the life of herbivore even though he is a carnivore. He discovers who he is in adulthood. He is not only a carnivore but also a king. 

Through the help of his friends, he determines to claim his right to the throne. The movie gives an idea of the importance of understanding who you are. The Pride Rock gave the lions and the entire kingdom self-identity. Simba was able to forgive himself for past mistakes and pass a new life based on the new self. This is the same mindset that people need to have, especially students.

The Rabbit Hole

The Rabbit Hole is a thriller TV series starring Kiefer Sutherland. Created by John Requa together with Glenn Ficarra, the series focuses on a framed murder. All along, he is deeply trying to discover who he is and what is real when life turns against him. The series’ main theme is about seeking self-empowerment. One has to stir the courage deeply invested in them and stand up strongly in times of trouble. The rabbit hole symbolizes emptiness. The movies remind people never to fear exploring new and unknown realms. 

They need to develop a higher level of curiosity and be ready to take risks to discover things. Weir gets a chance to prove his innocence although Crowley is keen to frustrate the chance. In her consistent explorations, Alice keeps asking herself who she is. She finally grows into womanhood and discovers what she has been all along. 

Thunder in My Heart

Thunder in My Heart follows a team of young people who are about to come of age. They begin to struggle with issues of adulthood and are not sure about their own identities. They have weird and painful pasts to deal with as well as passions. The drama TV series released in 2021 has 16 episodes. The series reminds viewers that oftentimes, it is harder to discover who you are when you are growing up. It requires focus in adulthood to understand a person’s place in life.

Inception – 2010

Inception is a sci-fi thriller about Dom Cobb, an experienced hacker. He uses technology to extract information from people’s minds during their dreams. Ken Watanabe discovers his skills and hires him. His mission is to use his skills to deposit a business idea in the mind of Ken’s competitor. It’s a complex task that drives Dom to think beyond limits. 

He decides to create three dreams in one but the target is already trained for such intrusions. The thriller deals with issues around reality and identity. Dom Cobb discovers who he is and his unique abilities when he’s hired for a complex task. Many people get stuck around the issue of self-identity because they don’t try to stretch their minds beyond their abilities. 

Conclusion

Issues of identity keep many people struggling to understand who they are or their role in life. Sometimes challenges push people to the edge and before everything settles, they already know who they are. TV series can provide a platform for people to discover themselves in a new way. It is important to understand the theme, plot of the story, and relate it to your own life.
