While Bob Dylan is primarily known for his thought-provoking and socially conscious lyrics, he has touched upon the subject of money in a few of his songs.

- “Maggie’s Farm” (1965): In this spirited protest song, Dylan expresses his disillusionment with the commercial music industry and the pressures of conforming to societal expectations for financial gain. The line “Well, I try my best / To be just like I am / But everybody wants you / To be just like them” reflects the conflict between artistic integrity and the pursuit of financial success.

- “It’s Alright, Ma (I’m Only Bleeding)” (1965): This influential song features Dylan’s sharp social commentary, including lines like “Money doesn’t talk, it swears” and “He not busy being born is busy dying.” These lines critique the corrupting influence of money and the materialistic nature of society.

- “Like a Rolling Stone” (1965): Considered one of Dylan’s greatest works, this iconic song tackles themes of societal downfall and the consequences of prioritizing material wealth. It questions the emptiness of pursuing money and material possessions, ultimately suggesting that true fulfillment lies beyond such pursuits.

- “Everything is Broken” (1989): While not explicitly about money, this song features lyrics like “Broken lines, broken strings / Broken threads, broken springs / Broken idols, broken heads / People sleeping in broken beds.” These fragmented images can be seen as a commentary on the disarray and decay that money-driven societies can experience.

- “Pay in Blood” (2012): This dark and brooding song from Dylan’s album “Tempest” explores themes of power, greed, and the destructive nature of wealth. Lines such as “I’ll pay in blood, but not my own” suggest a biting critique of those who prioritize financial gain over empathy or morality.
