1959: American singer-songwriter and musician Paul McCartney and his band The Quarrymen (later known as The Beatles) performed at the New Clubmoor Hall in Liverpool, marking the first meeting between McCartney and John Lennon.

1965: The Rolling Stones released their hit single “Satisfaction” in the United States. The song became one of their signature tracks.

1975: British rock band Queen released their iconic single “Bohemian Rhapsody” in the United Kingdom. It went on to become one of the greatest rock anthems of all time.

1980: American singer and actress Cher started a four-week run at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with her hit single “Call Me.”

1984: Bruce Springsteen released his album “Born in the U.S.A.,” which became one of his most successful and critically acclaimed works.

2007: American singer-songwriter Prince kicked off his “Earth Tour” in Auburn Hills, Michigan, promoting his album “Planet Earth.”

2008: Madonna kicked off her Sticky & Sweet Tour in support of her album “Hard Candy” in Cardiff, Wales.

2010: The 55th Eurovision Song Contest took place in Oslo, Norway, with Germany’s Lena Meyer-Landrut winning the competition.
