Scientists still continue to work on the universe and reveal new information and facts about the infinite universe that continues to expand every day. Here are the 10 interesting facts you need to know about the universe which you might not use in your daily life but be surprised when you learn them.

The universe consists of billions of galaxies. If this isn’t enough for you, let’s add that each galaxy has billions of stars in them. This means there are approximately 10 billion trillion stars in the universe. Of course, this number is valid only for the discovered universe. If we write with numbers, we can say we have 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars in our universe.  If you still think that humankind is alone in the universe, you should think about it again.

1- The light travels 300,000 meters per second.

The light travels 300,000 meters per second. Even if you travelled at this speed, it would take you 100,000 years to reach beyond the Milky Way Galaxy.  Therefore, it is best to wait until the scientists do better.

2- The sunrays reach our world in 8 minutes.

It takes 8 minutes for the sun rays to reach our world. If the Sun goes black one day, we can only realize this 8-9 minutes later.  Of course, if the Sun goes black, we might not even have this 8-9 minutes.

3- Jupiter is the broom of our solar system.

3- Jupiter is the broom of our solar system.

Jupiter attracts the meteors and comets to itself to act as the vacuum cleaner of our solar system. If we didn’t have Jupiter, we would have more frequently seen the meteors that hit Russia recently.

4- The density of Saturn is lower than water.

Interestingly, the density of Saturn is lower than water. If we could have Saturn into a pool full of water, the planet would float on the water’s surface like ice.

5- Jupiter is heavier than other planets.

Contrary to common knowledge, the weight of Jupiter is more than the weight of all the planets in the Milky Way galaxy.

6- One star dies every second

Anywhere in the universe, a star dies which could lighten up an entire planet. These dead stars offer new study and observation areas to scientists.

7- The black holes are the evidence of the dead stars.

The black holes are the evidence of the dead stars.

The blackholes are known as the cold residues of the dead stars. The black holes are so dense that even the light cannot escape from its attraction force.

8 Blackholes exist in all galaxies.

The black holes exist in all galaxies across the universe. Moreover, there is a black hole in our Milky Way Galaxy as well.

9- The stars are named for their dimensions.

Astronomers name the stars based on their dimensions. They use different names from dwarf to supergiant. Supergiant is the name given to thousands of stars including our Sun.
