I asked him to define the blues. He taught and taught and said “The blues is pair of pants out any pockets. Do you like that?” I said it was good one and he continued. “The blues is pair of torn pants without anything in the pockets” He added “Blues is a color that’s all”
“What do you consider is your place in American folk music” I asked he again insisted “I am not a folk singer anymore than anybody is” And then as he climbed in to the car, he hollored out, much to the delight of some three of four dozen fans “Folk singers are Communists” I decided that Bob Dylan’s place in American folk music is something that is undefinable.
“What do you think will happen to you as you grow older, and we grow older and upcoming generations”
Bob Dylan replied: “I dig the new generation” … “Soon the new generation will rebelled against me as just like I rebelled against the older generation.”
