From Prison to Fame: Lil Baby

Born on 03 December 1994, Lil Baby is an American rapper, singer and song writer. The full-name of the singer is Dominique Armani Jones and he is attracting attention in the US since 2017.

Lil Baby attracts attention with “Freestyle” hit song in first mixtape album Perfect Timing released in 2017. His first RIAA studio album was Harder Than Ever released in 2018 and “Yes Indeed” duet with Drake in the album reached 6th rank in Billboard Hot 100.

Dominique Armani Jones was born in Atlanta, Georgia and he was only 2 years old when his father left him. He also had 2 sisters. Jones was in trouble as the tried to cope with his failure in education and he was dismissed from the school on the 9th grade.

Jones committed a lot of crimes and he was sentenced to 2 years in prison when he was caught with drugs in 2012. The 2 years sentence was reduced to 1 year with the help of a lawyer but it was raised again to 2 years as the fought with a white inmate due to racist comments.

Jones was caught with drugs less than 1 once in 2013 and he was sentences to 2 years in 2014 for drug dealing and other crimes. He released Perfect Timing mixtape after he was released. Harder Than Hard which is the second and ground-breaking album helped him to get an audience. Baby reached his real success with his Freestyle song released in the beginning of November and Harder Than Hard studio album released in 2018 reached number 3 on US Billboard 200 list. Baby got Platinum award with his friend Gunna whom we collaborated for this album ad he was awarded with Black Entertainment Television while being nominated to others.

Baby completed 2018 with albums and he starred in How High 2 sequel of How High which was released on American multinational cable channel MTV. When he was taking new steps as an actor, his new song was in Billboard Hot 100.

He released his second single “Sum 2 Prove” on 10 January 2020 and reached number 16 on Hot 100 and Baby was back on US Billboard 200 with his My Turn album which was completed in a short time. Baby was on Billboard Hot 100 list with 12 songs and he got the top on Billboard 200 list as the released the lux version on May 1.

Baby mentioned George Floyd and Black Lives Matter Protest in The Bigger Picture album released on 12 June 2020 during George Floyd protests and he reached number 3 on Billboard Hot 100 while giving sensitive messages. Baby completed amazing works like One Shot ve Fast & Furious 9 in the past months of 2020 and at the same time he was on number 100 of Billboard Hot 100 with “We Paid” song featuring 42 Drug.

If we talk about his private life in addition to his musical career, Baby started dating Jayda Cheaves in 2016 and they had a child on 18 February 2019.
