3rd May 1976 – Bob Dylan (and the Rolling Thunder Revue) perform tow shows at The Warehouse,New Orleans, Louisiana. This is the 13th and 14th show on the second leg of the Rolling Thunder Revue.

There are no known recordings or listed set-list for the afternoon show, but the evening show contains the only known live performance of Rita May. The show has been distributed on a number of bootlegs.

The song Rita May was co written between Dylan and Jacques Levy, believed to be about the Rita Mae Brown a pacifist and feminist at the forefront of the gay liberation movement. The song was worked on during a number of session for Desire and although never made it onto the album did make it to the b-side of the single “Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again” (from the live album Hard Rain) and was later released on Masterpieces a compilation released in Japan, Australia and New Zealand in anticipation of his 1978 tour.

Musicians for the show were Bob Dylan (guitar & vocal), Scarlet Rivera (violin), T-bone J. Henry Burnett (guitar & piano), Steven Soles (guitar), Mick Ronson (guitar), Bobby Neuwirth (guitar & vocal), Roger McGuinn (guitar & vocal), David Mansfield (steel guitar, mandolin, violin & dobro), Rob Stoner (bass), Howie Wyeth (drums) and Gary Burke (percussion).

For Vincent Van Gogh, Bob Dylan & Bobby Neuwirth shared vocal, Railroad Boy and I pity The Poor Immigrant were with Joan Baez, Knockin on Heavens door was shared vocals with Roger McGuinn and Gotta Travel On was with the entire Rolling Thunder ensemble.
