1- Group formed c. 1974; performed gigs in Sunset Strip clubs, Los Angeles, CA, 1974–75; signed with Warner Bros. Records and released first album, Van Halen, 1978.
2- The first band of Alex and Eddie was created under the name The Broken Combs. At that time, Eddie was in his fourth grade.

8- Dave went on extreme sport-type expeditions to pleaces like the Amazon and Nepal during the ’80s with a group of fellow adventurers that called itself the “Jungle Studs.”
9- In 1977, Gene Simmons saw them in concert and set up their first recording session. He flew them to New York and bought them new clothes, but the resulting demo still didn’t get them a record deal. The record companies were reluctant to sign them because disco was in and rock was out.

16- The middle name of Eddie is Lodewijk taken from the name of the famous composer Ludwig van Beethoven.
17- In a 2004 episode of The Sopranos, David Lee Roth played himself in a VIP poker game that involved Tony Soprano.
18- In 2007, Van Halen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
19- VH1 ranked them 7th on their list of the top 100 hard rock artists of all time
20- Eddie Battled tongue cancer in the early 2000s.
21- Dave ran the New York City Marathon with a finish time of 6:04:43, which pretty much means he was signing autographs all along the 26.2 mile route.
