1 – Placebo gained exposure in 1997, after releasing “Nancy Boy”, a song which Brian Molko described as “obscene”
2- The band eventually chose the name Placebo, due to its meaning in Latin, “I shall please”
3- The band appeared in the film Velvet Goldmine.
4- Placebo decided to name themselves after the one drug/medicine that actually doesn’t work.
5- Lyrically, Placebo’s music contains many references to drugs and LGBT themes
6- Brian lost his virginity at age 14 to a Swiss girl
7- Placebo have been cited as an influence on such bands as My Chemical Romance and Panic! at the Disco.
